Energy Efficient Standby Power Devices

Summary

Instructs federal agencies to purchase energy-efficient, commercially available products that consume no more than one watt while in standby mode. Where unavailable, directs agencies to select products with the lowest possible standby energy use, provided cost-effectiveness, practicality, and performance remain uncompromised. Requires the Department of Energy to maintain and annually update a list of applicable products. Independent agencies encouraged, but not required, to comply.
